The construction Industry is booming in the East County. El Cajon in particular is quickly transforming into a great neighborhood with dense and affordable housing schemes. Between 2005 and 2015, 500 new units were constructed and city officials say that more than 800 new rental units will start in the next 2 years.

It’s not only housing but hotels and lodging are on the rise too. shows that the best lodging house in El Cajon is the Best Western Continental Inn on Mollison Avenue but a new project on the horizon might cause it to lose the top spot. The project is a new up-scale hotel under the Courtyard by Marriott brand and it’s scheduled to break ground in January 2016.

Project officials have stated that once the necessary property sales and other requirements are complete, construction will begin and the new hotel could be open for business next year.

The hotel will be located on northeast corner of Magnolia and Rea Avenues and boasts 120 rooms. It will be the first upscale hotel brand in the area but perhaps the start of trend. The property will feature a swimming pool, outdoor dining, business center, two meeting rooms and a pair of commercial spaces that will be available for lease.

Once complete, the Courtyard by Marriott hotel will be a huge economic win for the area; signaling new jobs and more business opportunities. More construction projects are expected in near future including mixed-use apartment buildings and housing developments.
